Hilliard and Pospisilova score in double figures

LINCOLN, Neb. — The Wisconsin women's basketball team fell on the road at Nebraska, 77-44, Thursday night.

Wisconsin (5-14, 2-7 B1G) struggled to put the ball in the basket, tying a season low for points. UW shot a season-low 32.1% (18-56) from the field, including 13.6% (3-22) from 3-point range, and 71.4% (5-7) from the charity stripe.

Juniors Sydney Hilliard and Julie Pospisilova combined to score 28 of the Badgers' points as only five UW players scored in the game. Hilliard led all players with 16 points, including 12 in the first half on perfect 6-6 shooting. Popspisilova added 12 points while sophomore Brooke Schramek chipped in nine points.

The Cornhuskers (14-4, 3-4) shot 47.8% (33-69) from the field, including 32% (8-25) from the 3-point line, and 3-6 from the free-throw line.

Nebraska had two players in double figures with all but one Husker to touch the court scoring at least three points. The Huskers dominated in the paint, outscoring Wisconsin 46-28 and also got 30 points off their bench.

The Badgers continue to improve in rebounding, pulling down 35 boards and outcoring the Cornhuskers, 21-18, in second-chance points. Halle Douglass pulled down a team-high eight rebounds, just one short of her career best, while Hilliard and Pospisilova each added six rebounds.

Wisconsin struggled with its ball control, giving up 18 turnovers while tallying only eight assists.
