Wisconsin falls at No. 8 Michigan

Badgers host Penn State at Kohl Cente on Sunday

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — The Wisconsin women's basketball team fell on the road at No. 8 Michigan, 83-44, Thursday night.

Wisconsin (4-13, 1-6 B1G) scored a season low points and shot just 33.3% (18-54) from the field, including 20% (3-15) from 3-point range.

Junior Sydney Hilliard was the only Badger to score in double figures, hitting 13 points. UW's next scorer was Julie Pospisilova with seven points, snapping her streak of 14-straight games in double figures.

Michigan (16-2, 7-1) had three players in double figures with seven scoring seven-or-more points. Naz Hillmon had a game-high 21 points. The Wolverines shot 53.5% (30-56) from the field and 78.3% (18-23) from the free-throw line was Wisconsin was just 5-6 (83.3%) from the charity stripe.

U-M outrebounded the Badgers, 43-19, including 15 offensive boards, scoring 22 second-chance points. Brooke Schramek led UW with four rebounds as Wisconsin tied a season-low for rebounds.   

Michigan also nearly doubled up the Badgers with points in the paint, 46-24, and also got 27 points off its bench.

Wisconsin opened the game strong, leading 10-9 with 4:58 on the clock in the first period thanks to a Katie Nelson 3-pointer. The Badgers trailed 14-12 with 3:57 to play before the Wolverines went on a 5-0 run to lead 19-12 at the period.

Michigan outscored the Badgers 25-5 in the second quarter to lead 44-17 at the half. Finding a bit more rhythm in the third period, Wisconsin put up its highest scoring quarter at 15, but the dominant play of the Wolverines in the paint was too much to overcome on the road.
