Badgers fall at Maryland

High-powered Terrapin offense too much for Wisconsin

COLLEGE PARK, Md. — Sophomore Sydney Hilliard put up 20 points but it wasn't enough as the Wisconsin women's basketball team fell at No. 10 Maryland, 84-48, on Thursday afternoon from the xfinity Center.

The fast-paced Terrapin (13-2, 9-1 B1G) offense jumped out to a 14-4 lead and never looked back. Maryland finished the game with five players scoring in double figures behind 18 from Katie Benzan. The Terps shot 51.6% (33-64) from the field, including 8-20 (40%) from 3-point range for the game and outrebounded the Badgers 40-23.

Wisconsin (4-12, 1-12) shot 41.7% (20-48) from the field and tallied a season-low 23 rebounds. Maryland outscored the Badgers 42-26 in the paint while adding 30 points off of 25 UW turnovers.

Hilliard shot an impressive 64.2% (9-14) from the field, including 1-1 from 3-point range. She also added four rebounds and two steals.

Junior Imani Lewis was the only other Badger to score in double digits, adding 13 points. The forward snapped her streak of five games with a double-double as she pulled down four rebounds. The junior continues to shoot well from the free-throw line this season, going 3-4 on the day.

No other Badger scored more than five points but sophomore Julie Pospisilova dished off a career-high seven assists.

As a team, the Badgers forced 17 Maryland turnovers and scored 16 points off of turnovers.
