BOULDER, COLO.- Wisconsin recorded its first loss of the season after a hard-fought battle against the University of Colorado in its first road game.
The Badgers fell to the Buffaloes 57-74, but not after attempting to come back from what was once a 24 point deficit and outscoring Colorado by four points in the fourth quarter.
Leading for the Badgers were
Abby Laszewski and
Imani Lewis both scoring 19 points with eight and seven rebounds, respectively. Laszewski shot 69.2% from the field, with 13 of her 19 points scored in the first half. Lewis went 83.3% from the free-throw line, making five of six.
Freshmen
Sydney Hilliard and
Tara Stauffacher both went two-for-two from the free throw line and Hilliard led the team in assists with five, followed by four from senior
Kendra Van Leeuwen.
Colorado's top scorers were Quinessa Caylao-Do with 16, Jaylyn Sherrod with 13 and Emma Clarke with 11. Aubrey Knight led in rebounds with eight.
The Badgers return home Sunday, Nov. 17, as they host Milwaukee at the Kohl Center, tip off is 6 p.m.
