MADISON, Wis. –  The Wisconsin Badgers will travel to The Armory in New York City this weekend as they prepare for the two-day Dr. Sander Invitational, which features the Columbia Challenge. Â
The meet is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. CT on Friday and 8:30 a.m. CT on Saturday. A tape-delayed broadcast of the meet will air on NBCSN on Saturday at 3 p.m. CT. A majority of the meet can be seen on RunnerSpace Plus while a window on Saturday can be seen live via NBC Sports Gold.Â
1. TOUGH COMPETITION: The Dr. Sander Invitational marks the fifth time that Wisconsin has competed at the New York City meet. Wisconsin is one of fifteen teams competing this weekend, and will face some top-ranked squads at The Armory, including No. 14 Oregon, No. 19 BYU, and No. 24 Ohio State.
2. LAST TIME IN THE BIG APPLE: At last year's Armory Invite, the Badgers had one of its best showings of the indoor season. The distance medley relay consisting of Cooper Barth, Eric Brown, McKena Ramos, and Russell Sandvold took a runner-up finish, while sophomore Alex Teague finished third overall in the 400 meters and won the 200 meters.
3. SETTING RECORDS: The men's track and field team enjoyed a successful weekend of competition at the Larry Wieczorek Invite, with several different Badgers earning collegiate personal-best marks. Sophomore Tucker Wedig placed third overall in the weight throw with a personal-best toss of 66-4 1/4 (20.22 m), while junior Eric Brown bested his previous 600 meters time by almost two full seconds with a time of 1 minute, 18.88 seconds.
4. TAKING THE W: The Badgers collected multiple wins on the track last weekend in Iowa City. Senior Corbin Ellis won the men's 400 meters with a time of 48.79 seconds. Most notably, junior Zack Benning won the men's 3000 meters with his time of 8 minutes, 16.16 seconds, besting his previous personal-best time by 16 seconds.
5. NEXT IS NEBRASKA: After this weekend's meet, the Badgers will travel to Lincoln to make their first appearance since 2013 at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invite.
