Multiple Badgers compete at 2026 Toyota USATF Championships

Casey and Finger shine in competition
MADISON, Wis. – Four current Badgers competed at the Toyota USATF Outdoor Championships on July 23-26 in New York, with three advancing to the finals in their events.
Junior Andrew Casey impressed on Sunday, finishing fifth overall in the 800 meters final with a time of 1:45.32. Sophomore Patrick Hilby also ran the 800 meters, but fell short of advancing to the final by .11 seconds. Hilby finished ninth in the prelims with a 1:46.38.
The women had two athletes qualify for the finals. Senior Kylie Finger finished ninth in the 1500 meters final with a 4:12.22, after setting the UW school record in the 1500 meters prelims with a 4:05.78. That time broke Kathy Butler's previous school record of 4:07.68 set in 1997. Senior Taylor Kesner made finals in the discus, placing eighth with a heave of 188-8 (57.50m).
The Badgers also had seven former athletes compete at the USA Outdoor Championships, with six finishing in the top ten.
Bianca Stubler led the Badger Alumni, running a personal-best 54.85 to finish fourth in the 400 meters. Jason Swarens placed sixth in the shot put with a season-best heave of 67-11 (20.70m). In the discus, Joseph White placed seventh with a 201-8 (61.46m). Lawrence Johnson finished seventh in the 100 meters with a 10.03. In the 10000 meters, Evan Bishop placed ninth, running a 30:49.39. Bob Liking finished 10th in the 5000 meters with a 13:54.40. Zach Ziemek was a DNF in the decathlon after a NH in the pole vault.
Additionally, Madison Mooney competed across the pond at the Ireland Athletics Championships, winning the women's 800 meters in a 2:04.38.
