Badgers fight to 1-1 tie with Oral Roberts

Catalano scores his first goal of the season

MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin men's soccer team fought to another tie in Tulsa, drawing 1-1 with Oral Roberts on Sunday night.

In a heated contest, UW (0-0-2) scored early in the match against ORU (1-0-1) in the 13th minute. Senior Mark Segbers set up the perfect pass from the right side for fellow senior Mike Catalano, who banked in the goal to give the Badgers the early 1-0 lead.

However Oral Roberts evened up the score in the 77th minute on a penalty kick goal by Santiago Riveros.

The Badgers fired off 11 shots, including two on goal, in the 110-minute match.

Catalano was a force to be reckoned with after he fired off a team-high four shots on the night. He was followed close behind by fellow seniors Chris Mueller and Tom Barlow, who had three and two shots, respectively.

Goalkeeper Philipp Schilling and the defense held down the fort all night as Schilling recorded five saves and the team had two. Freshmen Alex Alfaro, Braden Callipari and Patrick Yim each saw valuable minutes in the match.
