
Badgers set to host Red and White Open Friday

Field events start at 3 p.m. with track events starting at 3:30 p.m.
MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin track and field teams return home to host the team's final home indoor meet of the year, the Red and White Open, on Friday at The Shell.
Friday's competition that begins at 3 p.m. is the team's final indoor meet before next weekend's Big Ten Indoor Track and Field Championships in Geneva, Ohio.
 
  
    
At last week's Iowa State Classic in Ames, Iowa, Kelsey Card led the Wisconsin women's squad, winning the weight throw with a season-best throw of 69 feet, 7 inches. She also finished second in the shot put at the ISU Classic to win this week's Big Ten Field Athlete of the Week award.
Card is set to compete in the weight throw and will take part in the shot put, where her season-best mark of 58-6 3/4 ranks second in the country.
Austin Mudd is back in action again Friday in the mile. The senior is coming off a seventh-place finish at the Iowa State Classic and six-second improvement to a previous mile time. Joe Hardy and McKena Ramos will also compete in the mile after solid finishes week.
All-American Georgia Ellenwood is set to run in the 60 meter hurdles this weekend looking to emulate the same success she had last time at The Shell where she won the 60 hurdles in the Badgers' season-opening meet against Notre Dame.
Sophomore Ebony McClendon will compete in the 60 meters this weekend after she faired extremely well in Ames. McClendon finished fifth in both the 60 and 200 meters last weekend in Ames.
Eric Brown comes off a fantastic 800 meter run where he ran a season-best and team-best time of 1:50.58. The freshman will compete in the 600 meters on Friday.
2015 Big Ten Cross Country Freshman of the Year Shaelyn Sorensen makes her track debut in the 3000 meters, marking her first official competition on the track for the Cardinal and White.
Competing in the men's 60 hurdles is freshman Dairius Ragland. The last time Ragland competed at The Shell, he won the 60 hurdles.
Zach Ziemek will take the weekend off from the pole vault but will also compete in the 60 meter hurdles in preparation for next week's Big Ten meet.
Riley Budde and Josh McDonald will both compete in the shot put this weekend. The duo had success last weekend and finished seventh and 11th, respectively. Riley Budde will also compete in the weight throw where he finished seventh last week, just a few feet off his personal-best mark.
