February 06, 2008 | Women's Swimming & Diving
Freshman Maggie Meyer was selected as the Big Ten Swimmer of the Week, the conference office announced today.
The North Oaks, Minn. native earned NCAA 'B' time standards in each of the five events she competed in at the Big Ten Quad Duals last weekend in West Lafayette, Ind.
Her winning times in the 100- and 200-yard backstrokes (55.25 and 1:59.17 respectively) set new season-best times for Wisconsin.
Meyer was a member of three winning relay teams for UW in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:32.68), 400-yard medley relay (3:42.55) and 400-yard freestyle relay (3:24.00).
She currently owns the top four season-best times in the 100-yard backstroke and two of the top four in the 200-yard backstroke.
This is the third weekly conference honor a Wisconsin women's swimmer has received this season and the first weekly conference honor for Meyer.
