Wisconsin Falls to No. 1 Southern Methodist at TCU Tournament in Forth Worth, Texas

No. 1 ranked Southern Methodist University was too powerful for the Wisconsin men 's soccer team as the Mustangs won 6-0 and handed the Badgers their first defeat of the 2001 season. SMU's Luchi Gonzalez led the way for the Mustangs with two goals and one assist. SMU had 17 shots in the game, 11 of which came in the second half.
Senior forward Dominic DaPra, the Badger's leading scorer of the season, had four shots, but was not able get a shot past the solid SMU defense and goalkeeper Byron Foss. Wisconsin's goalkeeper, Moriba Baker played 64 minutes and recorded four saves. The six goals allowed were the most goals scored on the Badger defense since Wisconsin lost 3-7 to Ohio State in 1999.
The Badgers move to 5-1 and will compete again Sunday at 1 p.m. CST against the Texas Christian Horned Frogs in their second game of the TCU tournament.
