MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin men's hockey program welcomes the addition of Nick Peruzzi as an assistant coach, head coach Mike Hastings announced on Wednesday.
"We are excited to welcome Nick Peruzzi to our Wisconsin Hockey family," Hastings said. "Nick has established himself as one of the brightest young coaches in college hockey through his ability to develop student-athletes, build strong relationships, and contribute to winning programs. His passion for the game, commitment to player development, and recruiting experience make him an outstanding addition to our staff.
"We are confident that Nick will have an immediate impact on our program as we continue to compete for championships and develop our players both on and off the ice"
Peruzzi spent the past two seasons behind the bench at UConn, first as an assistant coach before being promoted to associate head coach following his first season. He helped lead the Huskies through the most successful two-year stretch in program history, guiding UConn to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances and consecutive Hockey East Championship Game appearances. He also played a key role in recruiting efforts that helped fuel the program's rise on the national stage.
In 2025, UConn earned the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament berth and reached the Allentown Regional Final with a victory over Quinnipiac before falling to Penn State in overtime. This spring, the Huskies returned to the NCAA Tournament and competed in the Worcester Regional alongside the Badgers, falling to top-seeded Michigan State, 2-1, in the regional semifinals.
Peruzzi also crossed paths with Wisconsin at the 2024 Kwik Trip Holiday Face-Off in Milwaukee when the Badgers upended UConn, 4-3, in the title game of the Fiserv Forum tournament.
Prior to UConn, Peruzzi spent three seasons (2021-24) as an assistant coach at Northern Michigan. He helped the Wildcats to the 2023 CCHA Championship Game after the program reached the CCHA semifinals during his first season in Marquette, Michigan.
Before moving to the collegiate game, the Walsh College graduate spent time as associate head coach of the USHL's Lincoln Stars. He also served as an assistant coach and director of scouting for the USHL's Youngstown Phantoms from 2017-20, helping the Phantoms advance to the 2018 Clark Cup Final.
He got his start working with the Oakland Jr. Grizzlies 16U AAA and 18U AAA programs as a coach and moved up to the NAHL's Aston Rebels as assistant and video coach for the 2016-17 campaign, helping the Rebels advance to the Robertson Cup Final.
The Rochester Hills, Michigan, native is married to his wife, Caitlin. They have a daughter, Vienna.
