Eleven Badgers to compete this week in Fayetteville
MADISON, Wis. - The Wisconsin men's track and field teams will continue their postseason run, this time taking on the NCAA West Regional on Wednesday, May 27th, and Friday, May 29th. The meet will take place in Fayetteville, Arkansas, hosted by the University of Arkansas.
The Badgers will bring 11 athletes to the meet, all looking to punch their ticket to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. Athletes who finish in the top-12 of their event will qualify for the big stage.

1. LAST TIME OUT: The Badgers finished in 14th place at the Big Ten Championships. Matan Ivri provided the highlight of the meet as he finished in third place in the 5000 meters with a 14:09.04, just 0.20 seconds back from first.
2. DISTANCE DEPTH: Wisconsin will look forward to more distance success at regionals. At Big 10s, the 5000-meter crew scored 14 points with a trio of Badgers finishing in the top 6. Archie Noakes finished just 1.84 seconds behind Ivri's third-place finish, with a 14:10.85 that was good for fourth place. Christian de Vaal wasn't far behind, running a season-best 14:12.43 for sixth place. Johnny Livingstone also scored in the 10,000m, placing sixth with a 29:54.98.
3. HOT HAND:Â Henry Risser ran a strong race in the 800 meters at Big Tens and was only 0.20 seconds away from qualifying for the finals in the event. His personal-best of 1:47.33 was good for No. 9 on the all-time list. Patrick Hilby, who is ranked No. 12 in the region, ranks No. 3 in school history in the event with a personal-best this year of 1:46.03.
4. REGIONAL CONTENDERS: The Badgers are bringing multiple top-ranked athletes to the West Region. Matan Ivri headlines the team, ranked No. 12 in the 5000m and 19th in the 1500m. In the 800m, Patrick Hilby enters the meet ranked No. 12. Joshua Onwunili showcases his versatility, coming into the meet ranked 18th in the 100m and 26th in the 200m. Jacob Zednik is ranked 17th in the javelin.
