MADISON, Wis. - The Wisconsin softball team will return to Goodman Diamond for the final time this season, set to host Rutgers on Friday, May 1, for a three-game series before the Big Ten Tournament next week.
Game one is slated to start at 5:00 p.m. CT on Friday night, as Saturday and Sunday's matchups will each get underway at 12:00 p.m. CT. All three games will be streamed on B1G+. Fans in attendance can check out the promotional schedule with the link, HERE. On Sunday, UW will honor its three seniors in Shelby Jacobson, Emily Bojan and Rylie Crane.Â
The Badgers (28-17, 12-9 B1G) clinched a berth into the tournament last weekend with their sweep over Minnesota, allowing four runs over the course of 21 innings. Jacobson was a staple in the circle, throwing 14 more innings over the course of the weekend—securing a pair of wins over the Golden Gophers, including a complete game shutout in the series opener.Â
At the plate, sophomore Kaylie Whidden continued her hot stretch, tallying her second five-RBI performance in as many weekends in Wisconsin's 7-1 win on Saturday. In her last nine conference games, the Monument, Colo. native has gone 10-for-23 (.435 BA) with 13 RBI and six extra base hits. Whidden became just the sixth Badger in program history to record two five-RBI games in a single season.Â
Wisconsin enters the week with a rank of No. 34 in the RPI. The Badgers reached No. 33 last week, which marks their highest rank since the beginning of the 2023 season. This weekend, Wisconsin has a chance to win its sixth Big Ten series, which would be the most in program history in a single season, as they have won five of seven this year.Â
The Badgers will also seek its 30th win of the season this weekend, looking to do so for the second consecutive season and for the 14th time in program history.Â
Up Next: The Badgers will await their seed and matchup for the Big Ten Tournament in College Park, Maryland. The first round of postseason play is scheduled to start on Wednesday, May 6, as the tournament lasts through May 9.
