
Badgers record pair of top-10 marks to open weekend

Ivri, Noakes move into Wisconsin all-time top 10 in 1500 meters, 5000 meters
STANFORD, Calif. – The Wisconsin men's track and field team opened competition in California on Friday with standout performances in the middle-distance and distance events at the Stanford Invitational.
Matan Ivri delivered one of the top performances of the day, winning the 1500 meters with in 3 minutes, 38.15 seconds. The mark ranks No. 9 in school history and No. 3 in the NCAA this season. Patrick Hilby added a fourth-place finish in Section 2, clocking 3:42.87, while Johnny Livingstone placed fifth in Section 6 in 3:48.03. Christian de Vaal rounded out the 1500-meter group with an eighth-place finish in Section 7 at 3:50.44.
In the 5000 meters, Archie Noakes posted a time of 13:31.88 to finish 11th in Section 1, a mark that now ranks No. 9 in program history. Nick Gilles competed in Section 3, placing 15th in 14:14.69.
Henry Risser represented Wisconsin in the 400 meters, finishing seventh with a time of 47.70.
At the Triton Invitational in La Jolla, California, Jacob Zednik earned a third-place finish in the javelin with a throw of 208 feet, 7 inches (63.58 meters).
Up Next: The Badgers will complete their weekend of competition with day two of the Triton Invitational. Jack Schafer will compete in discus at 3:30 p.m. CT, with Kyle Clabough to follow in the shot put at 7:30 p.m. CT.
