No. 33 Wisconsin defeats Penn State, 4-0
MADISON, Wis. - The No. 33 Wisconsin men's tennis team (17-6, 8-5 Big Ten) earned the 4-0 sweep against Penn State (16-13, 3-10 Big Ten) Sunday morning. The Badgers took the early 1-0 lead after doubles play and cruised to straight set victories at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 6 singles to secure the sweep.
In doubles action, UW's No. 2 pairing of Oliver Olsson and Tomas Zlatohlavek dominated, earning a 6-2 victory. Penn State took a victory at No. 1 doubles, but Matthew Fullerton and Patrik Meszaros secured the team point with a 6-4 win against PSU's No. 3 duo.
Meszaros worked quickly in singles play, earning a dominant 6-2, 6-1 victory over Penn State's Michael Wright at No. 1. Ferdinand Kloesters earned his 15th win of the spring season, in straight sets, against Penn State's David Lindsay at No. 3 singles.
In true Senior Day fashion, Minasyan clinched the match with his win at No. 2 singles.
Wisconsin ends the regular season with a 17-6 (.739) record, its second best regular season winning percentage in program history.
Up Next: The Badgers will ​​head to the Big Ten Championships in Ojai, Calif., which runs from April 22-25.
