Guard brings backcourt experience to Wisconsin
MADISON, Wis. — Senior Trey Autry has signed with the Wisconsin men's basketball program, the program announced on Friday.
A 6-foot-4 guard, Autry played three seasons at George Washington, where he started every game during the 2025-26 campaign.
"I'm extremely grateful and excited to join the Wisconsin program" Autry said. "I can't wait to get to work!"
"We are very excited to have Trey coming to Wisconsin," UW head coach Greg Gard said. He brings some size, physicality, and experience to our backcourt. As a son of a coach, his basketball IQ is high and his ability to stretch defenses from 3 is a great asset to our offensive balance. We are looking forward to beginning preparation for next season when he gets to Madison this summer.
A native of Jamesville, New York, Autry is the first transfer addition to UW's 2026-27 class. He averaged 11 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists last season with George Washington. Autry has been a contributor since stepping on campus, appearing in every game the Revolutionaries have played since his freshman campaign.
A sharpshooting guard, Autry made 2.5 threes per game at a 38.5-percent clip last year. He started his career making 1.2 triples a game, before upping it to 1.9 per game during his sophomore campaign. He canned six threes twice last season, once en route to a career-high 24 points against Richmond in December, and the other in the NIT First Round win over Utah Valley.
Prior to George Washington, Autry was a consensus three-star out of high school, playing at Jamesville-DeWitt in New York before transferring to Western Reserve Academy in Ohio. He earned First-Team Ohio Prep Conference honors as a senior, and All-Hill Tournament MVP honors. He played AAU for City Rocks, advancing to the Elite Eight of the Nike Peach Jam in 2022.
