Wisconsin throwers head to La Jolla while the distance crew opens their outdoor season at Stanford
MADISON, Wis. - The Wisconsin women's track and field team will split squads this weekend for a pair of competitive meets in California. The throwers travel to La Jolla for the Triton Invitational, while the distance crew heads north to the Stanford Invitational for its outdoor season debut.
Action at Stanford begins at 11:00 a.m. CT on Friday. The Triton Invitational will run concurrently, with events scheduled for 11:00 a.m. CT on both days.
1. LAST MEET: Wisconsin's throwers continued to climb the program record book last weekend at USC. Danni Langseth improved her No. 7 mark to No. 6 in the shot put with a throw of 55 feet, 6 1/4 inches (16.92m), earning second place. She was followed by Hadley Lucas, who moved to No. 10 all‑time after a toss of 51-0 1/4 (15.55m), good for third.
2. DISTANCE DEBUT: The distance group will compete outdoors for the first time this season after a month-long reset following indoor competition. The squad is led by standout performers Kylie Finger and Leané Willemse, who both notched PRs and top‑10 program marks during the indoor campaign.
3. THE FAB FOUR: The 4x100-meter relay team of Luciana Aizpurua, Sydney Robinson, Catalina Sanchious and Rachel Robinson continued their momentum last weekend, improving their previous top‑ten mark and moving from No. 9 to No. 8 with a time of 45.93 seconds.
