Kylie Finger moves to No. 5 all-time in the 5000 meters
STANFORD, Calif. – The Wisconsin women's track and field team opened competition in California on Friday at the Stanford Invite in Stanford, California and the Triton Invite in La Jolla, California.
At the Stanford Invitational, Kylie Finger led the way in the 5000 meters with a runner-up finish in Section 2, crossing the line in 15 minutes, 38.23 seconds. Her time moves her to No. 5 in program history. Leane Willemse also cracked the top 10 in the section, placing 10th in 15:50.43.
In Section 4, Bella Jacobsen paced the Badgers with a fifth-place finish in 16:22.27, followed by Sara Mlodik in seventh at 16:30.09 and Mya Bunke with a time of 17:04.19.
At the Triton Invitational, the Badgers saw three top-seven finishes in the elite discus competition. Taylor Kesner led the group with a third-place throw of 183 feet, 11 inches (56.07 meters), while Zonica Lindeque placed seventh with a mark of 170-5 (51.95m). Hadley Lucas added an eighth-place finish with a mark of 169-5 (51.64m) and Vasiliki Samolada finished 16th at 157-3 (47.95m).
In the hammer throw, Morgan Flaska recorded an eighth-place finish with a mark of 179-10 (54.83m), while Nora Skoraczewski placed 12th at 177-4 (54.07m).
Up Next: The Badgers will wrap up their weekend of competition with day two of the Triton Invitational. Hadley Lucas, Danni Langseth and Zonica Lindeque are set to compete at 2:00 p.m. CT on Saturday.
