Kesner leads Wisconsin throwers with third-place finish in discus
LOS ANGELES – The Wisconsin track and field team throwers opened their weekend at the Ron and Sharlene Allice Trojan Invitational with a strong slate of performances on Friday.
The women's discus group set the tone with four athletes placing inside the top 12. Taylor Kesner led the way, finishing third with a throw of 178 feet, 3 inches (54.33m). Zonica Lindque followed with one of the day's highlights, matching her personal best of 174-2 (53.10m), a mark that remains No. 7 on Wisconsin's all-time list. Hadley Lucas added an eighth-place finish at 167-2 (50.96m), while Vasiliki Samolada placed 12th with a throw of 158-11 (48.45m).
On the men's side, Jake Schafer led Wisconsin in the discus with a seventh-place finish after throwing 173-1 (52.76m). Robin Ott followed in 14th at 134-0 (40.85m), and Jack Schmeling placed 15th with a mark of 98-3 (29.95m).
The Badgers added two more top-10 results in the women's hammer throw. Morgan Flaska secured a fifth-place finish with a throw of 182-1 (55.51m), while Nora Skoraczewski earned ninth at 172-10 (52.70m), closing out day one with a pair of strong performances in the circle.
