Badgers Shine on Day One at Windy City Invite

Willaims breaks school record, Noakes, Ivri and Newhart record sub-4 miles
CHICAGO – The Wisconsin men's track and field team delivered an impressive opening day at the Wisconsin Windy City Invite on Friday, highlighted by a school record, multiple event victories and several all-time marks moving up the Badgers' record books.
The headline performance came in the 400 meters invite, where Jalen Williams stormed to the win in 45.84 seconds, shaving nearly a second off of his previous school record time, setting a new Wisconsin school record. His mark now ranks No. 11 in DI and NCAA rankings.
Wisconsin controlled the middle-distance events throughout the day. In the 600 meters, Henry Risser claimed the title in 1:17.48, while Zion Omotesa followed closely in second at 1:17.61, a personal record that moved him from sixth to fifth all-time in Wisconsin history.
The Badgers were dominant in the distance races as well. In the mile, Archie Noakes led a historic showing, winning in 3:56.76 to rank fourth all-time at Wisconsin and become the 14th Badger to break the four-minute barrier. Teammate Matan Ivri placed second in 3:57.89, shaving nearly two seconds off his Penn Elite time and moving to seventh all-time at Wisconsin. Liam Newhart followed in third at 3:58.43, good for ninth all-time, while Pierce Seigne rounded out the top four for Wisconsin.
In the 5000 meters, Wisconsin swept the podium, Johnny Livingstone took the win in 14:00.31, with Micah Wilson in second with a time of 14:02.94 and Nick Gilles rounding out the top-3 with a time of 14:02.99.
The track continued to be a place where the Badgers shined. Patrick Hilby and Andrew Casey went 3-4 in the 800 meter invite, with times of 1:47.26 and 1:48.25 respectively. Lorenz Forsmann took eight in the 400 meter open with a time of 49.14 while Farraj Al Amin trailed just behind in 14th with a time of 49.63.
In the field events, Nathan Nelson claimed the pole vault title with a personal-best clearance of 16 feet, 11 ½ inches (5.17m). Wisconsin also saw contributions from Jack Schmeling, who recorded a personal best in the long jump at 20-7 ¾ (6.29m). Nicholas Godbehere and Kyle Clabough placed fourth and fifth in the shot put invite, with heaves of 58-8 (17.88m) and 57-7 ½ (17.56m) respectively.
