Carrington drops 20 points off the bench
COLUMBUS, Ohio — The No. 24 Wisconsin men's basketball fell to Ohio State, 86-69, on Tuesday night at the Schottenstein Center.Â
Wisconsin struggled to find an offensive rhythm early and just couldn't climb back from an early hole. Braeden Carrington was a bright spot off the bench for the Badgers, scoring 20 points for the second time this season (also at Minnesota). Carrington went 5-for-12 from beyond the arc in 28 minutes.
Nick Boyd saw his string of six straight games with 20+ points come to an end, chipping in 12 points, including 10 in the second half. John Blackwell had 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists, while Nolan Winter tallied 10 points and 6 boards.
UW fell behind by 12 points early at 22-10, but would climb back in it when an OSU three-minute drought and a Blackwell three pulled the Badgers within six. Just when it appeared the Badgers might tally their sixth double-digit comeback of the season, Ohio State responded to open a 38-26 halftime.
The teams traded buckets out of the locker room, each starting to connect from three-point land. Carrington made all five of his triples in the second half, while Boyd got to the rim for a dozen. OSU maintained the advantage, however, led by 24 points from Devin Royal.
Up Next: The Badgers return home for a clash with Iowa on Sunday, Feb. 22. Tipoff at the Kohl Center is set for 3 p.m. on FS1. The game is sold out, but fans can buy tickets on Seatgeek.com.
