Wisconsin continues Big Ten play in Columbus
MADISON, Wis. – The No. 13/12 Wisconsin men's hockey team begins its final six-game stretch of the regular season with a trip to Columbus to face the Ohio State Buckeyes on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 13-14.
Friday's game starts at 5:30 p.m. CT and streams on B1G+, while Saturday's contest starts at 6:30 p.m. CT and airs on the Big Ten Network.

In Friday's game, Osburn notched his first-career three-point game, tallying two goals and an assist. In game two, he added an assist on Ryan Botterill's second-period goal to total four points on the weekend, earning a Big Ten Second Star of the Week nod for his efforts.

With his assist on Saturday, the Plymouth, Michigan, native extended his point streak to four games, tallying two goals and seven points over the stretch. In 22 games played, Osburn has five goals and 19 points, and he ranks second among freshmen defensemen in the country in scoring.
Osburn's 19 points are the most for a Badger freshman defenseman since K'Andre Miller also had 19 points during the 2018-19 season.
2 - LINEUP CONTRIBUTIONS: With 11 goals scored in its weekend against Notre Dame, many Badgers found themselves on the scoresheet. In Friday's game, four different Badgers scored in the win, with Grady Deering and Luke Osburn each scoring two goals. Gavin Morrissey and Quinn Finley also found the back of the net in the win, with Finley playing hero with a goal 1:17 into overtime to give UW a 6-5 victory.

Overall, a total of nine Badgers had at least a point in Friday's game, with Blake Montgomery, Oliver Tulk, Ryan Botterill, Finn Brink and Christian Fitzgerald adding assists.
In Saturday's 5-4 victory, Ben Dexheimer, Finley, Simon Tassy, Botterill and Fitzgerald each lit the lamp to bring UW's weekend goalscorer total to eight.

Throughout the series, a total of 14 Badgers got on the scoresheet, with Vasily Zelenov and Adam Pietila also notching assists on Saturday.
"To find a way to score and get the job done, I think that's a huge weekend for us," said Associate Head Coach Todd Knott on the team's offensive performance against ND. "It's a belief now that hopefully the bus is going in the right direction."
Building offensive momentum over the weekend was important for many Badgers, including senior forward Tassy, who snapped an 11-game point and goal drought with a goal and an assist on Saturday. Additionally, junior forward Finley scored in both games of the weekend, ending a six-game goal and point drought.

Sophomore forward Ryan Botterill also had a big weekend, tallying a goal and three points to extend his point streak to three games (1-3=4), ending his eight-game goal-scoring drought.

UW defensemen got in on the fun during the series, scoring three goals over the weekend after scoring once in the prior six games.
3 - MULTI-POINT MADNESS: Many Badgers continued to build on their point totals in the weekend against Notre Dame, with eight recording multi-point nights in Friday's game: Luke Osburn (2g, 1a), Oliver Tulk (2a), Grady Deering (2g), Ryan Botterill (2a), Finn Brink (2a), Gavin Morrissey (1g, 1a), Quinn Finley, (1g, 1a) and Christian Fitzgerald (2a).

This marked Deering, Botterill and Brink's second-career multi-point nights, and Tulk's first. Fitzgerald and Morrissey each have 14 multi-point outings, while Osburn has four.

Multiple UW skaters also had multi-point nights on Saturday – Ben Dexheimer (1g, 1a), Finley (1g, 1a), Joe Palodichuk (2a) and Simon Tassy (1g, 1a) – for a total of 11 skaters notching multi-point nights.
Finley was the only player to have multi-point nights in both games, totaling two goals and four points on the weekend to the forward's total to 12 goals and 23 points in 26 games, tying him for second on the roster in scoring with Fitzgerald.
The Suamico, Wisconsin, native leads the roster with 21 career multi-point nights, with eight of them coming during the 2025-26 season. Dexheimer sits second among UW skaters with 15 career multi-point nights, while Palodichuk has seven, and Tassy has 14.

4 - LAST TIME OUT: Wisconsin enters the weekend after sweeping Notre Dame at home on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 6-7.
In game one, Wisconsin secured a thrilling 6-5 overtime victory in a back-and-forth game. UW opened the scoring with a Luke Osburn power-play goal early in the first, before Grady Deering scored 20 seconds later to make it a 2-0 game. Notre Dame added a power-play goal of its own, two minutes later, before Gavin Morrissey scored on the man advantage to restore UW's two-goal lead. ND struck once more, before Deering scored again to take a 4-2 Badger lead into the second frame. Osburn scored again midway through the second to extend the lead, but the Fighting Irish stuck again to make it 5-3, heading into the third. The Fighting Irish scored twice in the third, once on the power play and again with an extra attacker with 1:09 left to tie the game at five and send it to overtime. Finley played hero for Wisconsin, 1:17 into the extra time, taking a Gavin Morrissey feed and converting a breakaway goal to give Wisconsin a B1G conference win.

In game two, the Badgers earned a 5-4 win in regulation to complete a season sweep of Notre Dame. Wisconsin opened the scoring, 1:54 into the game, with a goal from Ben Dexheimer. Notre Dame tied the game at 6:33 before Quinn Finley reinstated the Badger lead. The Fighting Irish tied the game at two at 13:28. With 23 seconds remaining in the first. Simon Tassy redirected a shot to take a 3-2 UW advantage into the second and snap an 11-game goal-scoring drought. ND scored twice in the second, once at 8:22 and again at 10:19, to take a 4-3 lead, before Ryan Botterill tied the game at four at 13:35. Fitzgerald's game-winning tally came at 9:52 into the final frame to help UW to a 5-4 victory.

5 - SCOUTING THE BUCKEYES: The Buckeyes have a 10-15-1 overall record, going 6-10-0 in Big Ten play to sit sixth with 19 points, but with two fewer conference games played than Wisconsin. They enter the weekend after sweeping Minnesota in Minneapolis, winning game one, 6-2, and game two, 2-1.
Freshman forward Jake Karabela leads the roster with 24 points (8g, 16a) in 26 games played, while junior forward Max Montes leads with 11 goals in 26 games. Junior goaltender Kristoffer Eberly has six wins in 17 games played, accumulating a .883 save percentage and a 3.34 goals-allowed on average.
The last time OSU and the Badgers met was in Madison on Nov. 14-15, 2025. In game one, UW lost, 5-1, before rebounding for a 6-5 overtime victory in game two, with Gavin Morrissey playing the hero in the extra time.
