Two current and 11 former Badgers set to compete in international championship
MADISON, Wis. — Two current and 11 former members of the Wisconsin women's hockey team are set to compete in the 2026 IIHF Women's World Championship (WWC) from Nov. 6-16 in Herning and Esbjerg, Denmark.
Freshman Rosalie Tremblay is making her Canadian National Women's Team debut, while sophomore Adéla Šapovalivová is joining Czechia for her fifth WWC appearance. Šapovalivová also represented Czechia at the 2026 Olympics.
Team USA's roster features four recent Wisconsin graduates in Lacey Eden, Laila Edwards, Caroline Harvey and Kirsten Simms. Jesse Compher returns to the U.S. Women's National Team after competing at the 2025 IIHF WWC, while Casey O'Brien is set to make her senior team debut. Wisconsin's all-time leading scorer will serve as captain as the U.S. looks to capture their 12th world championship gold medal.
Two familiar faces will also join Team USA on the staff. Sis Paulsen, one of Wisconsin Athletics' newest Hall of Fame inductees, will serve as equipment manager, while Molly Engstrom joins the coaching staff as an assistant coach.
Canada's roster features five Badgers, with Tremblay joined by former Wisconsin standouts Emily Clark, Ann-Renée Desbiens, Daryl Watts and Sarah Wozniewicz. Clark is set to make her 10th WWC appearance, while Wozniewicz will make her national team debut.
The preliminary round runs from Nov. 6-11, with Team USA and Czechia competing in Group A alongside Switzerland, Germany and Austria in Esbjerg. Canada will compete in Group B with Finland, Sweden, Japan and host country Denmark in Herning.
The quarterfinals are scheduled for Friday, Nov. 13, with semifinal action following on Sunday, Nov. 15, in Herning. The quarterfinal locations are yet to be determined.
The gold medal game will take place Monday, Nov. 16, at 12 p.m. CT, with the bronze medal game occurring earlier in the day at 8 a.m. CT. All games are available on NHL Network. Fans can find the full schedule HERE.
