MADISON, Wis. – After a tough three-game series against Washington, the Wisconsin softball team (22-15, 6-7) looks to get back on track with a Tuesday double-header against St. Thomas.
The first game of the non-conference double-header begins at 3 p.m., with the second game following up at 5:30 p.m. (CT) or thirty minutes after game one.
1. WASHINGTON RECAP – The Badgers faced Washington for the first time since the Huskies joined the Big Ten conference, with Wisconsin dropping all three games of the series. Game one was grueling for both teams, as the game went on to the tenth inning, where the Huskies took the victory on a walk-off double. Wisconsin held leads in both games two and three, but a couple of big innings from the Huskies led to a Washington sweep - taking both games 6-2.
2. BLOMBERG'S BOMBS – Both of Wisconsin's runs in game three were driven in by Hilary Blomberg, who not only went yard, but did so twice. It was the sophomore's first ever multi-home run game, and the first of any Badger this season. Blomberg leads the team with nine home runs, already surpassing her freshman year total of seven. For the season, she's hitting .305, with a .993 OPS.
3. SALO'S SUPERB START – Wisconsin and Washington went back and forth in a ten-inning pitchers duel during game one of the series. On the mound for the Badgers was Gabi Salo, who went the distance for the team. Salo gave up just two earned runs in 9.2 innings, striking out five, and pitching a total of 180 pitches. It was the longest outing of any Badger since Maddie Schwartz pitched 10.0 innings on April 29, 2022 against Penn State.  Â
4. TRACKING THE TOMMIES – The Badgers take on St. Thomas on Tuesday, who are 19-13 this season. The Tommies are no strangers to Big Ten teams, playing both Iowa and Minnesota this season, and going 1-2 in those games. Senior Laken Lienhard leads the way on the hitting side, hitting .363 with six home runs and a 1.108 OPS. Wisconsin and St. Thomas have played each other three times in program history, all coming in the past two seasons. Wisconsin leads the series 2-1, taking last season's lone matchup, 8-0.
5. SCHLOSSER VS ST. THOMAS – One Badger who's found success against St. Thomas is Molly Schlosser. The senior's appeared in all three games against the Tommies, going 4-for-8 with a triple, double, five runs scored, and two walks. Schlosser is heading into the double-header hot, riding a nine-game hit streak - the longest of her career.
