DENVER - The Wisconsin men's basketball team saw its season come to an end on Saturday night, falling to BYU, 91-89, in the second round of the NCAA Tournament in Denver.

John Tonje had a huge performance, finishing with 37 points - surpassing Michael Finley's 36 points against Missouri in 1994 for the most by a Badger in a tournament game. Tonje's 26 second-half points helped the Badgers batlle all the way back.

The Badgers trailed the entire game, despite never being out of contention, outscoring BYU 53-44 in the second half.

UW trailed by as much as 14 points in the second half, and by 11 points with 2:11 remaining. A 11-2 Badger run in the final minutes, including three-point plays from Carter Gilmore and John Tonje, allowed the Badgers to come back in the game. 

Wisconsin's game-tying shot attempt fell short at the buzzer.

John Blackwell finished with 21 points. Max Klesmit and Steven Crowl scored 12 and 10 points, respectively, in their final games as Badgers. Crowl was 10 points shy of 1,500 points for his career.

Tonje finished his season with 724 points, the second-most points in a single-season by a Badger - surpassing Alando Tucker's 716 points in the 2006-07 season.

Wisconsin finishes its season 27-10 - the team's best record since 2017.
