Torok claims fourth place in the 400 IM

Badgers wrap up Day 3 of competition
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Wisconsin men's swim and dive team earned three top-8 finishes in the 400 medley relay, 200 freestyle and 400 IM on day three of the Big Ten Championships.Â
Dominik Mark Torok earned a fourth-place finish in the 400 IM with a time of 3:40.59, as freshman Landon Kyser finished in 20th with a time of 3:48.12. In the 200 freestyle, Chris Morris finished with the top UW time of 1:33.55 for a fifth-place finish. Freshman Yoav Romano won the consolation heat in ninth place with a time of 1:33.77, while Luukas Vainio finished 18th in 1:35.34.
In the 100 butterfly, Charlie Jones led the Badgers in 16th in 46.47 and Taiko Torepe-Ormsby came in 19th with a time of 46.44.Â
Matthew Segal and Ben Wiegand finished in 12th and 14th, respectively, in the 100 breaststroke. The Badgers had four swimmers advance to finals in the 100 backstroke, with Cooper Scharff leading the team with an 11th-place finish and time of 46.21. Nathan Welker touched the wall in 14th, with Sam Lorenz right behind him in 15th. Freshman Finn Bacon finished in 23rd with a time of 48.33.Â
To finish off the day, the 400 medley relay team of Cooper Scharff, Matthew Segal, Charlie Jones and Chris Morris finished seventh with a time of 3:06.22 for an NCAA B cut.Â
In the diving well, Jan Lanser finished 17th in prelims on the 3-meter with 295.40 points.Â
Competition concludes on Saturday, with prelims set to begin at 10 am and finals at 5 p.m. Day four includes the 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly, 1650 freestyle, platform diving and the 400 freestyle relay.Â
