The junior named Big Ten Men’s Swimmer of the Week
MADISON, Wis. — Yoav Romano of the Wisconsin men's swim and dive team has been named Big Ten Men's Swimmer of the Week after his successful first-place finishes against Notre Dame, the conference announced Wednesday.
Romano placed first in the 1000 free with a time of 8:54.78, setting a new personal best. He also earned first place in the 500 free (4:16.67) with another individual win for the team, as well as part of the Wisconsin A 400 free relay to win first (2:53.42).
"Yoav was spectacular to start the season. He won handedly both the men's 1000 & the men's 500. His times rank him among the best in the country this season (1000 free - 8:54.78, 500 free - 4:16.67)," said assistant coach Beata Nelson. "He also had a huge split (100 free split time - 43.43) on the men's 400 free relay to close out the meet with an exclamation point for the Badgers to win the meet on the men's side definitively."
Up next, the Badgers will host Minnesota on Friday, Nov. 6 at 5 p.m.
