Three power-play goals, perfect penalty kill propel No. 10/9 UW to key road win
ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Six different goal scorers, with three scoring power-play tallies, propelled the No. 10/9 Wisconsin men's hockey team to a 6-1 victory over the No. 2 Michigan Wolverines on Saturday night at Yost Ice Arena.
Wisconsin (7-1-2, 3-1-0 Big Ten - 9 points) scored two power-play goals on faceoff wins in the first period, opening the scoring 7:13 into the first period from the stick of Ben Dexheimer. It extended its lead at 12:50 with a Gavin Morrissey power-play goal. UW continued to explode offensively in the second, with Blake Montgomery adding a goal 1:25 into the frame. Michigan (10-2-0, 3-1-0 Big Ten - 8 points) got on the board 4:59 into the middle period with a short-handed goal, but Wisconsin's Aiden Dubinsky responded at 7:34 into the frame to restore its three-goal lead.
UW's third power-play goal of the night came at 17:47 into the second period, when Christian Fitzgerald scored on a breakaway during a major power play. To cap off the high-scoring Badger affair, Adam Pietila tallied his first goal of the season, 6:05 into the third period, to give UW a 6-1 victory over the No. 2 team in the country.

Sophomore defenseman Morrissey made it a 2-0 game with a power-play goal of his own, 12:50 into the first – his second goal of the weekend.

Less than 90 seconds into the second frame, at 1:25, Blake Montgomery tallied his fifth goal in five games.

Michigan scored its only goal of the game, 4:59 into the second period, after Luca Fantilli found the back of the net shorthanded.
Senior defenseman Aiden Dubinsky responded at 7:34 into the second with his first goal as a Badger off a feed from freshman defenseman Luke Osburn.

Fitzgerald scored his second power-play goal of the weekend, 17:47 into the second period, on a major power play to send Wisconsin into the final period with a 5-1 lead.

Wisconsin's final goal of the night came from Adam Pietila, who netted his first goal of the year, 6:05 into the third frame, to seal UW's 6-1 victory over the Wolverines.

Wisconsin went 3-for-7 on the power play and 5-for-5 on the penalty kill against what was the No. 1 power play in the nation. UW finished the contest with a 30-30 tie in shots on goal.

- Daniel Hauser notched his first-career point with an assist on Fitzgerald's second-period power-play goal. He is the first Badger goalie with a point since Tommy Scarfone had an assist against Penn State on Feb. 8, 2025
