
Wisconsin downs Minnesota in Border Battle

Wisconsin drops only one event
MINNEAPOLIS — The No. 22 Wisconsin Badgers men's swim and dive team took down No. 24 Minnesota 177-117 in Minneapolis on Friday evening, taking home first in every event but one.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Sophomore Yoav Romano led the pack in the distance events, shaving over three seconds off his personal best in the 1000 free, collecting a first-place finish in 8:59.74. The sophomore collected another first-place finish in the 500 free with a time of 4:18.86.
The Badgers went one, two, three in the 100 breast, led by Ben Wiegand with a time of 53.52. Nate Harris and Brayden Henkel rounded out the podium with times of 53.08 and 54.12, respectively.
Multiple Wisconsin swimmers took first in both of their events. Dominik Mark Torok collected wins in the 200 fly and 200 breast with times of 1:41.93 and 1:55.57. Luukas Vainio found success in the freestyle events, placing first in the 100 in 44.22 and 200 in 1:34.37.
The Badgers held strong in the relay events, collecting first and second place in the 200 medley. In the 400 free relay, the first-place Wisconsin B squad of Wiegand, Vainio, Enzo Solitario and Romano notched a ninth-fastest all-time top performance time with 2:53.74.
Jan Lanser held consistent in the diving well, notching a second-place finish on the 1-meter board with 329.63 points and a third-place finish on the 3-meter with 258.90 points.
UP NEXT:
The Badgers split up for meets at Texas and Ohio State, including the four-day Texas Invite on Nov. 18 and the three-day OSU Invite on Nov. 19.
