Wisconsin boasts six players in double-digits
MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin women's basketball team (2-1, 0-0 B1G) earned their second-straight home win, defeating the Bowling Green Falcons (1-3, 0-0 MAC) 90-78.
The team recorded season highs 26 assists, 27 fast break points, and 48 points in the paint.
Junior Kyrah Daniels led Wisconsin with 21 points, with five made three-pointers.
How it happened:
The Badgers came out with energy on both ends of the court, opening the game with a 10-4 run behind early buckets from Gift Uchenna and Kyrah Daniels. Laci Steele gave Wisconsin an offensive spark, scoring nine first-quarter points on 4-of-7 shooting, including a three-pointer. The Badgers went on a 7-0 run over a one minute and 55 second span. Wisconsin shot 50% in the quarter and led 22-16 after 10 minute.
Wisconsin extended its lead in the second quarter thanks to hot perimeter shooting. Daniels continued her strong start, adding eight points in the frame to reach 13 by halftime, while Shay Bollin knocked down a pair of threes off the bench. Daniels tied her season high of three-pointers, reaching three, three-pointers in the first half. Ronnie Porter's perfect 4-for-4 shooting stretch helped Wisconsin stay efficient, as the team went 10-for-16 (63%) from the field and 3-for-6 from beyond the arc in the quarter. The Badgers were strong defensively, putting up three blocks in the second quarter.
At halftime, Wisconsin's ball movement was on full display. The Badgers held a 24–14 edge in points in the paint and outpaced Bowling Green 16–8 on fast breaks, showing off their speed. Wisconsin moved the ball efficiently, recording 13 assists on 19 made field goals while keeping turnovers to just eight.
The third quarter saw the Badgers maintain their momentum, outscoring the Falcons 18–17 in the period. After Bowling Green gained some momentum Wisconsin responded with a 7–0 surge in just 74 seconds to keep control. Kyrah Daniels continued her breakout performance, surpassing her season high by the end of the third quarter with 18 points.
In the final frame, the Badgers sealed the game with another strong offensive stretch, posting 24 points in the quarter. Gift Uchenna powered through inside with six of her career-best 12 points coming in the fourth, while Destiny Howell came alive late, scoring seven of her 13 points in the period.
