MADISON, Wis. - The No. 11 Wisconsin volleyball team is set to take on two more conference opponents this weekend, hosting No. 1 Nebraska at the UW Field House on Friday, Oct. 31, and hitting the road to Ohio State to battle with the Buckeyes on Sunday, Nov. 2.
Friday's match will get underway at 8:00 p.m. CT on Halloween night, while Sunday's matinee will begin at 11:00 a.m. CT. Each match will be televised on Big Ten Network.
Halloween costumes may be worn at the match on Friday, but the costumes must be able to fit into a normal seating space and must be an appropriate nature. No additional carry-ins will be allowed as part of a Halloween costume.
The Badgers (15-3, 8-2) enter the week tied for second place in the conference after sweeping their west coast trip, taking down both Washington and Oregon in four sets.
It was all outside hitter Mimi Colyer this past Friday, as the senior enjoyed her fifth match with 20 kills or more, finishing with 25. Colyer also added season-bests with 18 digs, four service aces and five blocks to power UW past the Huskies.
Wisconsin turned in a resilient showing against the Ducks on Sunday after dropping the first set, going on to win three in a row on the road to wrap up their week of action.
Libero Kristen Simon accumulated 14 digs in Sunday's match, marking the ninth consecutive showing where the freshman has racked up double-digit dig totals. Simon has powered the Badgers to the top mark in the conference in digs per set with 14.33.
UW will face their biggest test of the season on Friday, as they look to hand the Cornhuskers (20-0, 10-0) their first loss of the season. Nebraska has swept all 10 of their Big Ten matches so far, entering the UW Field House without losing a set since Sept. 16.
In the Kelly Sheffield era (2013), Wisconsin has recorded wins in 13-of-21 matches against the Cornhuskers. The last two times Nebraska has traveled to Madison as the No. 1 ranked team in the country, the Badgers have earned sweeps—coming in 2022 and 2023.
For Sunday's match, outside hitter Grace Egan will be making her return to her former school when UW takes on Ohio State (3-15, 0-10). Egan played for the Buckeyes for two seasons, notching a career-best 22 kills last year against the Badgers in five sets.
After this weekend, Wisconsin will return home to take on their rivals in No. 20 Minnesota on Wednesday, Nov. 5. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on FS1.
