Wisconsin falls 83-52 to Hoosiers on Saturday
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Wisconsin women's basketball team fought hard against Indiana on Saturday, but ultimately fell 83-52 in a conference clash at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.
Serah Williams was the standout for the Badgers (10-3, 1-1), leading the team with 13 points on 6-of-13 shooting, along with 11 rebounds to record her ninth double-double of the season. The senior also added two blocks.
As a team, Wisconsin shot 34.6% (18-52) from the field, 41.6% (5-12) from beyond the arc, and 68.8% (11-16) from the free-throw line.
How It Happened
The Badgers came out strong in the first quarter and were able to battle back energized by a pair of three pointers from Tess Myers. Wisconsin ended the opening frame with a surge, going on an 11-0 run to close out the frame. However, the Hoosiers (10-3, 2-0) gained control in the second and the Badgers found themselves trailing 42-23 at the half.
In the third quarter, Wisconsin fought back, trading baskets with Indiana, but couldn't cut into the deficit. Despite strong performances on the boards— the Badgers out rebounded the Hoosiers 33-30—and at the free-throw line, the Badgers were unable to overcome Indiana's offensive attack.
Up Next
The Badgers will return home for a New Year's Eve showdown against the Minnesota Golden Gophers in a Border Battle. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. (CT) inside the Kohl Center.
