Quick Kicks: Badgers take a ranked roadtrip

The Badgers will first face No. 9 Iowa before heading to Indiana

MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin women's soccer team will travel to take on No. 9 Iowa on Thursday, Oct. 10, before heading to Indiana on Sunday, Oct. 13. Kickoff times are 7 p.m. and 12 p.m. (CT).

Here are five things to know:

1. SCOUTING THE HAWKEYES: The Badgers last met the Hawkeyes in the 2023 Big Ten Championship game. A controversial penalty kick gave the Hawkeyes the 1-0 advantage. 

The Badgers have the upper hand in the all-time series, carrying a 15-7-5 record.

The Hawkeyes are currently ninth in the United Soccer Coaches poll and are tied for first in the Big Ten with an undefeated 5-0-1 record and 16 points.

Berit Parten leads the team with six goals, and goalie Macy Enneking has kept seven clean sheets on the season.

Iowa is second in the conference for shots on target with 107 and leads in shots on target percentage (.519).

2. SCOUTING THE HOOSIERS: The Badgers and the Hoosiers last faced each other in the 2022 season at McClimon. Wisconsin blanked Indiana, 2-0.

The Badgers lead the all-time series against Indiana with a 16-11-3 advantage. 

The Hoosiers are 6-5-1 on the campaign and rank 14th in the Big Ten. Layla Shirda leads the team in all scoring categories with seven goals, six assists, and 20 points. 

3. LAST TIME OUT: The Badgers hosted the Nebraska Cornhuskers and tied with a final score of 2-2. The Badgers led in corners (6-2) and shots (13-9).  

Nebraska took an early lead with a goal in the third minute and added another in the 30th. The Badgers went into the break trailing 2-0.

After the half, the Badgers put one on the board after a goal from Aryssa Mahrt in the 65th minute. Hailey Baumann had the equalizer in the final minute of the game, making the final score 2-2.
