Badgers host Huskers on Saturday

MADISON, Wis. — Winners of nine of its last 10 games, No. 21 Wisconsin wraps up a four-game homestand on Saturday hosting Nebraska at the Kohl Center. Tip is set for 1:15 p.m. (CT) on Big Ten Network.

1. LAST TIME OUT

Wisconsin improved to 2-0 in Big Ten play, earning an 83-72 victory over Iowa on Tuesday night at the Kohl Center. The Badgers won their Big Ten home opener for the sixth straight season.

After turning the ball over seven times within the first 10 minutes of the game, Wisconsin and Iowa were tied up at 32-all at halftime. UW settled in after the break, shooting 58.3% from the floor and scoring a season-high 51 points in the second frame to pull away.

Tyler Wahl had a team-high 19 points, going 11-for-13 at the free throw line (both career bests). AJ Storr scored 16 points, Steven Crowl had a 14-point, 13-rebound double-double, and Max Klesmit added 15 points.

2. SCOUTING THE OPPONENT

Saturday's game between Wisconsin and Nebraska will mark the 38th all-time meeting between the two programs in a series that dates back to 1904.

Last season, Nebraska won the lone meeting between the two teams, 73-63, in overtime in Lincoln. The Huskers have won two straight, including a 74-73 win in Madison on March 6, 2022.

The Badgers lead the all-time series, 21-16, having won 15 of the 21 meetings since the Huskers joined the Big Ten in 2011.

3. ON THE OFFENSIVE

Through the first 13 games this season, Wisconsin boasts one of the most efficient offenses in the nation according to KenPom.com, improving in almost every category from a season ago.

Last season, the Badgers ranked 140th in the country in adjusted offensive efficiency per KenPom.com. This year, UW is ranked in the top 20.

Wisconsin is averaging 74.8 ppg and shooting 46.3% from the field. Those numbers are up from 65.3 ppg and 41.4% shooting last season.


UW is on pace for its highest scoring 
average since 1993-94 when they put up 77.9 ppg. That team was led by NBA All-Star Michael Finley in Stu Jackson's final season as coach.

4. GARD'S GUIDANCE

Greg Gard is now in his 9th season as head coach having led Wisconsin to Big Ten titles in 2 of the last 4 seasons while maintaining a winning culture.

Gard has guided the Badgers to a record of 174-96 (.644), the 4th-highest win total and 3rd-highest win percentage in UW annals.

 In all, Gard has led teams to 4 of the top 18 winningest seasons in program history: 27 wins in 2016-17, 25 wins in 2021-22, 23 wins in 2018-19 and 21 wins in 2019-20.

5. SOMETHING IN STORR

Sophomore transfer AJ Storr has already begun to showcase his offensive skillset with Wisconsin. A BIG EAST All-Freshman honoree last year with St. John’s, he’s hit the ground running in Madison.

Making his case as one of the best transfers in the Big Ten this season, Storr is leading the Badgers averaging 15.1 points per game.

He's scored double figures in 11 of 13 games this season (8 straight). Storr has led UW in scoring in 5 games this season.

Storr scored a career-high 29 points against Chicago State on Dec. 22.
