EVANSTON, Ill. – The 22nd-ranked Wisconsin swimming and diving team continued the season with another conference win over Northwestern on Saturday. The Badgers picked up nine event wins to finish the meet off a 160 to 139 win over the Wildcats.
Freshman Luukas Vainio started the meet off strong, finishing first in the 200 free in 1:35.12. Chris Morris followed in fourth place with a 1:37.15 and Nico Butera finished in fifth in 1:37.26.
Dominik Mark Torok continued the momentum for the Badgers, earning two individual wins against the Wildcats. Torok hit the wall first in the 200 IM, posting a time of 1:45.86. He also picked up another individual win in the 200 fly, finishing with a time of 1:43.77.
The Badger men swept the sprint freestyle events with Taiko Torepe-Ormsby winning the 50 free in 19.67. Ben Weigand followed in second place with a 19.80. Nico Butera earned a first-place finish in the 100 free with a time of 44.24. He was closely followed by Andrew Benson who placed second with a 44.27.
Daniel Muller continued his success in the 1-meter dive, finishing first with 334.25 points. Jan Lanser finished fifth in the event with 288.95 points.
