Box Score MADISON, Wis – The Wisconsin women's soccer team came away with its first win of the season against UIC on Sunday. It was a 1-0 victory for the Badgers, who start the season 1-0-1.
Â
How it happened
It was a blistering hot day at McClimon on Sunday, with Wisconsin taking on UIC. However the heat did not deter the Badgers, who once again started the game out strong. It only took 13 minutes for the team to capitalize, with freshman
Ella Ottey scoring her first career goal off a free kick. The ball was played in on a silver platter by
Emma Jaskaniec with Ottey making a darting run to connect with the ball. It is Ottey's first goal in two starts.
The Badgers maintained possession from there, completely controlling the pace of the game. While the team may have only won by 1-0, it was a commanding performance by Wisconsin.
Not only was it a great offensive showing by the team, but the defense kept yet another clean sheet. The Badgers have yet to give up a goal through two games and have locked down opposing attackers.
