MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin men's basketball team returns to the road and is set to face Penn State on Wednesday in the first of two road games this week. The Badgers and Nittany Lions are scheduled to tip at 7:30 p.m. CT, and the game will be televised on Big Ten Network.
Before the Badgers tip, here is the Starting Five:
1. LAST TIME OUT:Â Chucky Hepburn scored 17 points, while Connor Essegian added 15 points on five made 3-pointers, but Wisconsin suffered a 54-52 loss against Northwestern on Sunday night at the Kohl Center.
2. CE3:Â Essegian is establishing himself as one of the best 3-point shooters in the Big Ten, as he currently ranks sixth in the conference from behind the arc shooting 44.8 percent and averaging 2.2 triples per game. Essegian's strong shooting abilities were on display Sunday, as the true freshman made five 3-pointers.
3. DEFENSE!: UW is allowing just 62.7 points per game this season, which ranks fifth for scoring defense in the Big Ten. The Badgers have held 19 of 22 foes below their scoring average, including five to season-low point totals.
4. CHUCKY AT THE POINT: Hepburn has led the Badgers in scoring seven times this season, and has scored in double figures in 16 games this season. Over the last 10 games, Hepburn is averaging 13.5 points, 3.6 assists and 1.8 steals per game, while shooting an impressive 45.7% from 3-point range.
5. LAST MEETING: Wednesday marks the second meeting this season between Wisconsin and Penn State after the Badgers earned a 63-60 victory over the Nittany Lions earlier. In the season's first meeting, Steven Crowl recorded a double-double scoring 21 points and grabbing 11 rebounds, while Hepburn scored 13 points and tallied three assists.
