EAST LANSING, Mich. – No. 14 Wisconsin heads to East Lansing for a rematch with No. 17 Michigan State. Tip is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday on Big Ten Network. Before the Badgers hit the hardwood, here is the Starting Five:
Â
1.) Winner Winner: Wisconsin's defense held Penn State to 31.6 percent (18-for-57) shooting from the floor and the Badgers improved to 9-3 in league play with a 51-49 win this past Saturday night.
Steven Crowl led the Badgers with 13 points and a career-high five assists, while
Tyler Wahl added 12 points and
Chucky Hepburn scored 10 points. The program extended its home winning streak against Penn State to 21-straight, including a perfect 18-0 at the Kohl Center.
2.)Â Crowl's Growlin': Seven-footer
Steven Crowl is heating up his 3-point shot as of late, hitting a career-high three triples Saturday against Penn State. The big man is now 19-for-58 (32.8%) from 3-point range this season.Â
3.) Experience Matters: Brad Davison is set to play in his 151st game on Tuesday, which will set the program record for the most games played in a career by a Badger. It will also be Davison's 147th career start, which is also a school record. The senior is having the best offensive season of his career, averaging 15.0 points per game. Shooting nearly 84 percent from the free-throw line, Davison has hit 57 triples this season. Last month, Davison passed Bronson Koenig for the most made 3s in school history as he continues to pad his place in the Badger Basketball record books.
4.) Freshmen Duo: Over the past four games, true freshmen point guards
Chucky Hepburn and
Lorne Bowman II have accounted for 52 points for Wisconsin. The duo has helped lead the Badgers into a tie for second place in Big Ten standings.
5.) Hunting Sparty: Wisconsin fell to Michigan State earlier this season in Madison, now looking to avenge its loss on the road Tuesday night in East Lansing. The Spartans hold an 84-66 all-time advantage in the series, but the Badgers won the last meeting in East Lansing. Last season in a Christmas-day showdown, Wisconsin out-dueled the Spartans, 85-76, to earn UW's first win in East Lansing since 2004.
