Game Coverage

Feb. 5 | 5 PM | Kohl Center | Madison, Wis.

MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin men's basketball hosts Penn State on Saturday evening. Tip is scheduled for 5 p.m. and the game will be televised on Big Ten Network. Before the conference battle, here is the Starting Five:

1.) Last Time Out: Johnny Davis (22 pts) and Tyler Wahl (14 pts) scored in double figures, but the Badgers could not work their way back after the Fighting Illini built a commanding second-half lead. Davis matched his career high and grabbed 15 rebounds for the second game in a row, while Wahl (7-11 FG) was one of two Badgers (Lorne Bowman, 3-4 FG) to shoot above 50% from the floor in Champaign. All four of UW's losses this season have come against AP Top-25 ranked opponents.

2.) Up Next: The Badgers return to Madison looking for a bounce-back victory over Penn State. In the Kohl Center, Wisconsin holds a 332-59 (84.9%) all-time record. Out of all active arenas, that places the Badgers ninth in the country in terms of winning percentage in active venues.

HOME WINNING PERCENTAGE (as of 2/2/22)
1.) Gonzaga (McCarthy Center) 241-15 (94.1%)
2.) Kentucky (Rupp Arena) 628-77 (89.1%)
3.) Kansas (Allen Fieldhouse) 822-116 (87.6%)
4.) Oregon (Matthew Knight Arena) 176-25 (87.6%)
5.) Belmont (Curb Events Center) 216-31 (87.5%)
6.) Michigan State (Breslin Center) 443-66 (87%)
7.) UCLA (Pauley Pavilion) 784-128 (86%)
8.) Xavier (Cintas Center) 291-50 (85.3%)
9.) Wisconsin (Kohl Center) 332-59 (84.9%)
10.) Louisville (KFC Yum! Center) 178-34 (84%)

3.) Celebrating Black History: On Saturday as part of Wisconsin Athletics' month-long celebration of Black History Month, the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Gospel Choir will perform the national anthem and "Lift Every Voice" at the game. Throughout the month of February, both the Wisconsin men's and women's basketball teams will be wearing shooting shirts designed by the late Virgil Abloh, a graduate of UW-Madison.

4.) Points in the Paint: Wednesday night at Illinois, Wisconsin scored 40 points in the paint for the second time this season - the most in a season since 2018-19 when they accomplished the feat six times. All seven of Tyler Wahl's buckets against the Fighting Illini came inside the paint.

5.) Looking for Blackjack: The Badgers hold a 41-11 advantage against the Nittany Lions, including 20-straight wins at home. The programs last met in the Big Ten tournament in 2021 when UW beat Penn State, 75-74. Wisconsin has also won 15 of the last 16 matchups against the Big Ten foe.
