MADISON, Wis. - The Wisconsin men's basketball team opened its season with an 85-59 win over South Dakota on Monday night at the Kohl Center.
Senior forward Tyler Wahl led the way with a 19-point, 10-rebound double-double for the Badgers, finishing just four points shy from his career high. Wahl also stuffed the stat sheet with four assists, two steals and one block. He shot 9-for-10 from the free throw line.
Sophomore point guard Chucky Hepburn also had an impressive showing, finishing with 14 points and shooting 3-for-5 from 3-point range.
Steven Crowl (12 points) and Max Klesmit (11 points) rounded out double-digit scorers for UW.
UW shot the ball particularly well from 3-point range, finishing 12-for-26 (46.2 percent) on the night including 9-for-15 from beyond the arc in the first half.
Next up, Wisconsin heads to Milwaukee on Friday to face Stanford at American Family Field as part of the "Brew City Battle" doubleheader. Tip is set for 6:30 p.m. on FS1.
