MADISON, Wis. -- Behind 10 event winners, the 20th-ranked Wisconsin men's swimming and diving team downed Big Ten Conference foe Minnesota, 181-117, in a Border Battle on Friday evening.
Jekel wins four events
Senior
Wes Jekel led Wisconsin (2-1, 1-0 B1G) with three individual event titles and one relay win. The Madison native started his day with a win in the 100 back in 47.99 seconds. He followed that up with a victory in the 200 back in 1:47.33.
Behind Jekel, UW swept the top-three places in the 200 individual medley. Jekel touched in 1:57.44 for the win while freshman Dominink Mark Torok took second in 1:49.91. Sophomore
Matthew Segal finished third in 1:51.16.
Jekel also teamed with
Will Myhre,
Andrew Benson and
Ben Wiegand to win the 200 medley relay in 1:26.35. Wiegand, Benson,
Isaac Casey-Hrenak and
Constantin Bensch also combined to win the 400 free relay in 2:58.23.
Wiegand added an individual title in the 50 free in 20.00 while Benson took the 100 free in 44.02.
Torok was the top UW finisher in the 200 freestyle, coming in second in 1:37.69, and the top Badger in the 200 butterfly in 1:47.92.
Myhre led Wisconsin in the 100 breaststroke, finishing second in 53.67. Â

Wisconsin claimed the top-two places in the 1000 free as junior
Jude Williams touched in 9:13.09 for the win. Junior
Jake Newmark finished second in 9:14.49. Newmark also won the 500 free in 4:25.60.
Junior
Daniel Muller won the 1-meter springboard with 312.68 points while freshman
Jan Lanser was the top Badger on the 3-meter board, taking second with 296.93 points.
