MADISON, Wis.— Wisconsin women's hockey sisters Grace and Sophie Shirley each scored a pair of goals to lead the top-ranked Badgers to a 7-0 win over Bemidji State on Saturday afternoon at LaBahn Arena.

Wisconsin (11-2-1, 11-2-1-1-1-1 WCHA) finished strong, scoring four goals in the final frame to take down the Beavers  (2-12-2, 2-12-2-2-4-1 WCHA). 

Goaltender Kennedy Blair recorded her second shutout of the weekend, her fifth of the season, after stopping all six of BSU's shots. 

Early in the game, freshman Makenna Webster lit the lamp, notching her second goal of the weekend. She gave the Badgers a 1-0 lead.

Halfway through the second period, Sophie Shirley scored a goal to increase Wisconsin's lead to two.

Five minutes later Lacey Eden scored in a three-on-three situation to put Wisconsin up three. This was also her second goal of the weekend.

Grace Shirley was able to get one past Bemidji State netminder Kerigan Dowhy four minutes into the final frame, extending the Badgers' lead to four.

Both Shirley sisters lit the lamp in a 1:33 span in the middle period as Sophie scored her ninth of the year before Grace tacked on her second goal of the frame. 

Delaney Drake then netted her first of the season to cap off the scoring for the Badgers. 

Three Notes of the Game

• The Badgers outshot BSU 36-6 as the six shots on goal allowed is tied for the fourth-fewest allowed in program history.
• Grace Bowlby and Sophie Shirley each extended their point streaks today. Bowlby now has a seven-game point streak after recording her 11th assist of the year while Shirley has at least a point in each of the Badgers' last 10 games. 
• Kennedy Blair recorded her fifth shutout of the season after recording shutouts in both games against BSU.

On keeping the pace and playing time:
"My message was to make sure everyone is staying in the game. Whether we're on a power play or killing a penalty, your ice time might not be as normal in situations.' 

On continued, productive freshmen play:
"When those kids score and they put assists on the board, they go away from the game more confident than they started the game. If you're a young player, all those freshmen we have, if they can have those kinds of successful nights, it helps them prepare for the next game.

"Honestly, it's hard to say, but by the reaction from my teammates, I would say mine were just because they were all pretty hyped up so I'll take that one"

Junior forward Sophie Shirley
On her and her sister's goals:
"Being able to play with your sister on this team is cool, to both be able to get a couple tonight was obviously a pretty cool feeling and pretty special too. I think it will be a game that we both remember for a long time."
