GAME NOTES (PDF)

MADISON, Wis. –
The Wisconsin men's hockey team continues its homestand with a pair of games against No. 10 Penn State on Monday and Tuesday at LaBahn Arena. Both games begin at 5 p.m. CT.

Here are six quick things to know before tuning in:

1. GETTING ON TOP: Wisconsin has scored first in all four games so far this season, but sits at 2-2-0 in those games.

Four different Badgers have given UW 1-0 leads through four games, including senior forward Linus Weissbach (Notre Dame), senior forward Ty Pelton-Byce (Notre Dame), senior defenseman Josh Ess (Michigan) and junior forward Roman Ahcan (Michigan).

2. OVERTIME AND STANDINGS: College hockey has a new overtime format and the Badgers played that format for the first time on Friday against Michigan. After regulation ended at 1-1, the teams played a five-minute, 3-on-3 overtime. Michigan won the sudden death with 26.6 seconds remaining to grab two points in Big Ten standings. UW earned one point with the overtime loss.

This year in Big Ten Conference play, a regulation victory is worth three points, an overtime or shootout win is worth two points and an overtime or shootout loss is worth one point. The system now mimics the one used by the NHL in giving out points.

3. FOUR ALL: In addition to scoring first in all four games this season, the Badgers have scored a power-play goal in all four games. Sophomore forward Cole Caufield boasts an assist in all four games, while senior goaltender Robbie Beydoun has started all four contests.

4. LINUS LEADS THE WAY: Senior forward Linus Weissbach paces the Badgers in scoring with two goals, including a game-winning tally, and five points through four games.

Weissbach skated in his 100th career game on Friday against Michigan. The fifth current Badger to skate in 100 career college games (Baker, Inamoto, Ess, Pelton-Byce), Weissbach is UW's current career leading scorer with 24 goals and 78 points.

Weissbach recorded his second multi-point game of the season and the team-leading 19th of his career last Thursday against Michigan.

5. SCOUTING PENN STATE: No. 10 Penn State dropped its first two games of the season, losing 4-1 and 3-2 at Minnesota last Thursday and Friday.

The Badgers trail the Nittany Lions, 13-20-3 with a 7-7-2 home record after going 1-3-0 last season. However, UW has dropped just one home game against Penn State in the last six meetings in Madison, going 3-1-2 in those contests.

Last time out, Holloway broke a 3-3 tie with 1:04 left in regulation to give Wisconsin a 4-3 victory over Penn State ong Friday, Feb. 14, before UW fell Saturday in a 3-2 battle.

Look out for: Penn State also follows suit with a switch of the goaltenders as junior Oskar Autio is expected to stand between the pipes this season after starting four games last season with a 2-1-1 record. Freshman netminder Liam Souliere is also in the mix.
