Vancouver, British Columbia -- Goals in each period, from the sticks of
Cole Caufield,
Dylan Holloway and
Jason Dhooghe, got the 2019-20 season started on a good note and with a 3-0 exhibition victory at the University of British Columbia. The teams play a rematch on Sunday at 5 p.m. CT.
Draft 15th overall by the Montreal Canadiens this past June in this same city, Caufield one-timed a cross-slot feed from
Linus Weissbach to finish off his first goal in red and white. Fellow rookie
Alex Turcotte started the play taking the puck off the wall and dishing down low to Weissbach.
Projected 2020 first-round draft pick Holloway made it 2-0 after a cross-ice feed from
Brock Caufield in the second period, the second power-play marker of the night.
The final goal from the Badgers came from junior
Jason Dhooghe in the third period, who skated towards net and saw an
Owen Lindmark pass from the corner bounce off the shin pad and into the net.Â
Wisconsin goaltender
Daniel Lebedeff recorded a 26-save shutout between the pipes. The Badgers finished with a 38-26 shot advantage, went 2-for-5 on the power play and a perfect 7-for-7 on the penalty kill.
