OMAHA
Start hot and stay hot was the name of the game in UW's first win of the day. Three home runs helped the Badgers score seven of their 15 runs for their third straight run-rule victory.
Â
Melanie Cross got the scoring started with a two-run homer to left field in the first inning. The Badgers stayed patient at the plate in the second inning for three more runs, taking a 5-0 lead.
Â
Junior
Jordan Little struck again in the fourth inning, sending a three-run dinger over the left field wall.
Ally Miklesh sent home one more run before the inning was over with a single up the middle to grow UW's advantage to 9-0.
Â
With one inning left before the run rule kicked in, a flurry of Wisconsin hits helped the Badgers add six more insurance runs. The inning was highlighted by
Kayla Konwent's first home run of the season to score herself and
Tyra Turner.
Â
Junior
Caroline Hedgcock picked up her first win in the circle as a Badger, pitching three innings with two strikeouts and only one hit allowed
Â
Texas Tech
The Badgers had hot bats in the beginning of the game but could not find an answer for the Red Raiders defensively.
Â
Melanie Cross drove in the first run of the game in the top of the first with a double to right field.
Â
Texas Tech took the lead in the bottom of the second inning after scoring three runners.
Â
Tech added a fourth run in the third inning, but the Badgers clawed back after a two-run dinger from

Â
That is as close as the Badgers would get, as Texas Tech rallied for four more runs to hand UW its first loss of the season, 7-3.
