Five-star recruit will arrive in Madison next fall
MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin men's tennis head coach Danny Westerman announced that five-star recruit Kabir Rajpal will join the Badgers during the fall of 2020 after signing his National Letter of Intent.
"We are thrilled to sign Kabir Rajpal to an NLI," Westerman said. "He is a great fit academically and athletically and he will make a big impact to our program. Kabir is a very talented player with good size and is a great athlete. He has been coached very well and we know he will continue to develop in his senior year of high school. We can't wait to get him on campus to continue his development and help us elevate Badger tennis."
The No. 41-ranked player in the Class of 2020, Rajpal holds a 39-12 record in the traveling tennis circuit, including an 8-5 record over fellow five-star players. A native of Syosset, New York, Rajpal is the No. 2 player in the state and was named the Long Island Player of the Year in 2019. A two-time all-state competitor, he also holds a 45-0 all-time record in high school play and was finalist in the New York state tournament this past spring.
"I chose Wisconsin because of the balance of academics and athletics," Rajpal said. "I also chose Wisconsin because of the diversity of culture and the great coaching staff and teammates."
The Badgers open their spring schedule with the Miami Spring Invite, Jan. 10-12, before returning home to open dual play against Illinois State and Chicago State on Saturday, Jan. 18 at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium.
