
Five things to know: Wisconsin hosts three-match weekend

Badgers welcome Marquette, Iowa State and Northern Illinois to Nielsen
MADISON, Wis. – Coming off of three straight victories, the Wisconsin women's tennis team (3-0) is hoping to do the same this weekend as it hosts Marquette, Iowa State and Northern Illinois at Nielsen Tennis Stadium. The match against Marquette is set for Friday, Feb. 1 at 4 p.m. CT while Iowa State and Northern Illinois will be a Saturday doubleheader with the first match at 11 a.m.
1: WHAT A START: The Badgers kicked off the season by hosting Nebraska-Omaha and Illinois-Chicago in a double header last Friday and Colorado State on Sunday. Wisconsin pulled off a double sweep on Friday defeating both UNO and UIC 7-0. UW came back Sunday to grab a 5-2 victory over Colorado State. Five Badgers went undefeated on the weekend in singles play.
2: SCOUTING MARQUETTE: Marquette currently sits at 2-0 after two 7-0 victories over Northern Illinois and the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. Both matches were part of a Saturday doubleheader on Jan. 26 on Marquette's home courts.
3: SCOUTING IOWA STATE & NIU: Iowa State will enter this weekend with a 2-0 record after two dominant victories over South Dakota, 6-1, and Augustana, 4-0. ISU is led by Maty Cancini, who is holds a No. 74 singles ranking. NIU is 1-1 in the spring season thus far, defeating Milwaukee, 4-3 and losing to Marquette, 7-0. Both teams are free from action until they arrive in Madison this weekend.
4: WHOSE HOT: UW has six women with a winning percentage above .500 at this point in the spring season. Top-50 ranked athletes Sara Castellano and Lexi Keberle hold the best marks for UW, Castellano posting a 13-4 singles including 3-0 in dual play and a 4-2 record against nationally ranked opponents, while Keberle is 13-5, including 3-0 in dual play. Freshman Ava Markham and sophomore transfer Anna Makarova have both made their presences felt this season, both beginning 2019 with a 3-0 record for UW.
