Wisconsin closes the book on the Miami Invite having learned so much
MIAMI, Fla. – The Wisconsin men's tennis team might not have picked up many wins on Sunday afternoon at the Miami Invitational, but what they did gain was much more important.
The young squad picked up experience playing against the nation's most talented, learned the team environment at Wisconsin, and developed the stick-togetherness so prevalent in Badger student-athletes.
Â
Junior Chase Colton picked up a mightily impressive win at the No. 2 spot over Texas' Harrison Scott in three sets 1-6, 6-4, 1-0. Colton's win on Sunday caps off a perfect weekend at the Miami, going 3-0 in three days of competition against incredibly talented foes.
Â
Unfortunately rain on Saturday night made UW's doubles match on Sunday morning against Ole Miss unplayable.
Â
Up next: Wisconsin enjoys two weeks away from competition before hosting DePaul at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium on Friday, January 25 at 6 p.m. (CT).

MIAMI, Fla. – The Wisconsin men's tennis team picked up right where they left off in the second day of the Miami Invite. Wisconsin pushed their limits to the max on Saturday afternoon, showing no signs of fatigue a day after fierce competition on Friday.
Â
The Badgers got things rolling in the doubles category with a win over the Hurricanes at the No. 1 and 2 spot. Senior Osgar O'Hoisin and freshman Jared Pratt paired up to win over Miami's Kaya Gore and Adrian Soriano Barrera – who qualified for NCAA doubles and is ranked in singles--, 8-2. The German tandem of sophomore Jesper Freimuth and freshman Leonard Soha finished off Franco Aubone and Dane Dunlap with ease, boasting an 8-5 win and securing the doubles point for the Cardinal and White.
Â
Junior Chase Colton picked up a win in the singles category against Ole Miss' Fabian Fallert in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4.

MIAMI, Fla. – The Wisconsin men's tennis team looked phenomenal for a cold-weather team traveling to the Sunshine State to play teams already accustomed to the heat. The Badgers collected notable victories in the singles frame against Miami and experience against Texas in doubles.
Â
Junior Chase Colton played just like Chase Colton always does: aggressively and with fire. His mentality helped lead him to a three-set victory over Miami's Dane Dunlap, 7-6, 6-7, 6-4. Sophomore Robert Krill finished moments later and with very similar results, beating the Hurricane's Franco Aubone, 7-6, 2-6, 6-3.
Â
Freshman Jared Pratt tallied his first win as a Badger with a straight-set victory over Tatsuki Shimamoto, 6-2, 6-3.
Â
In doubles, it was a slightly different story as Wisconsin took on No. 8 powerhouse Texas in doubles. Wisconsin went 0-4 as a team tandem but gained invaluable experience playing against the nation's best.
Â
Up next: Wisconsin plays again Saturday morning against Miami in doubles and Ole Miss in singles.
