ATHENS, GA. – Just one week after winning the 800 meters at the California Collegiate Open in San Diego, Wisconsin men's track and field senior Carl Hirsch picked up another win on Friday at the Spec Towns Invitational at Spec Towns Track.

Hirsch crossed the line in 3 minutes, 53.32 seconds to pick up his second win of the outdoor season while freshman Tannor Wagner was sixth in 3:57.87.

Also competing on the track was Ryan Dundun, who gave another impressive performance in his signature event, the 400 meter hurdles. Dundun earned a runner-up finish thanks to his time of 53.40 seconds.

Sophomore Tucker Wedig launched the hammer 200 feet, 9 inches to place third in the event.

In his first outdoor meet of the season, sophomore Travis Toliver started out strong with a runner-up finish in the javelin, tossing the javelin 187-0.

Senior Tim Guthrie placed seventh in pole vault with a season-best clearance of 16-0 3/4 (4.90m) while Rashid Coulibaly finished right behind him in eighth, also clearing the same height.

In addition to the current Badgers competing in Georgia, 2016 Olympian Zach Ziemek took sixth in the elite section of the 200 meters in 22.21 and fifth in the long jump with a mark of 24-8 1/4 (7.52m).

The second day of the Spec Towns Invitational is slated to start on Saturday at 8 a.m. CT with the 5000 meters, while the first field event is the women's shot put at 10 a.m., but the schedule might be adjusted due to anticipated showers in Athens, Georgia.
