1. Wednesday's Battle 4 Atlantis opener will mark the 10th-ever meeting between Wisconsin and Stanford. The Cardinal lead the all-time series 6-3, but this will be the first meeting since 1994. Stanford head coach Jerod Haase was the head coach at UAB, when the Badgers and Blazers met in the 2014 Battle 4 Atlantis opener. UW won that meeting, 72-43, en route to the tournament championship.
2. The fourth preseason AP All-American in school history, Ethan Happ has opened the season like a postseason All-American. He is averaging 18.3 ppg and 12.0 rpg, while leading the Big Ten with 7.7 assists per game. He is the nation's only player averaging at least 18.0 ppg, 12.0 rpg and 7.0 apg.
3. After missing the final 23 games last season with a foot injury, D'Mitrik Trice is making up for lost time. The sophomore guard opened the season with back-to-back career highs of 21 points vs. Coppin State and 22 points at Xavier. Trice is shooting 65.0% (13-30) from 3-point range, including a perfect 5-for-5 effort at Xavier.
4. Wisconsin is shooting 42.4% from 3-point range this season with 4 players shooting at least 40.0% from downtown. Last season, UW shot just 33.5% from deep.
5. The Badgers are ranked 14th according to KenPom.com, owning the 14th-ranked offense (113.3 adjusted efficiency) and the 31st-ranked defense (93.5 adjusted efficiency). Wisconsin ranks 2nd in the nation averaging just 7.3 turnovers per game. The Badgers also rank 5th in the NCAA with a 2.23 assist-to-turnover ratio (49 dimes, 22 turnovers).
